Mister "HAHA METAL IS THE BEST GENRE", you clearly have no idea what actual country music is about, or music at all. I like some heavy metal, but you seem like the type to listen to some crappy sub-genre of metal. Much of Heavy Metal is screaming and growling. ANYONE CAN DO THAT! That doesn't show talent, that shows stupidity. For once could people like you and mister "this music gives me a headache" please think outside the box, instead of being so single-minded, and stubborn as to at least dig deep and look for good music outside of your genre. Ever major genre of music has something good about it (otherwise it wouldn't last very long). At least with Pop and other unpopular genres, there is variety and songs that stick out for being good. With Country, however, you are essentially listening to the same song over and over. Beer, girls, tractor, river, jeans. The majority of country is now just some guy with a fake sounding accent singing about how he wants to get with a girl, or how he loves the countryside. That's. It. There is very rarely any meaning to the songs, just singing about drinking and getting with girls. There ARE good country artists and songs (Johnny Cash, Zac Brown, Toby Keith), but the genre has gotten to the point where there is essentially no substance to many of the songs, in music OR lyrics. Party, feel-good songs are fine, but they can't be the ENTIRE GENRE.

I like real Country, not most of the mainstream crap they call country today. I don't mind crossover genres of country such as Country rock, every once in a while, but it seems to be every song on the radio now. Most Country pop is crap and some Country rap is okay. But Bro-Country is taking it too far. My favorite genre of Country is Neo-Traditional Country. My favorite artist is Josh Turner - a REAL artist! I also like the classics such as George Strait, Alan Jackson, Reba, Randy Travis, hank Williams and others. I'm also a teen which proves that not all young people listen to bad music. Frankly I don't care whether you like today's excuse for country or not. Just don't call it country when it's clearly an extension of Pop.

Even though Country is the most popular music genre in the US (strange, even more popular than pop and rap; my dad heard about this and told me), I don't like it that much, especially modern country. I'm kind of sick about some guy singing in an annoying voice singing about beer, tractors, and some girl he met in a rodeo (sounds cliche but you get the point). However, I do like Dolly Parton (she's actually considered a country singer) and my favorite country song is a country-sounding Metallica song called Mama Said (people dislike the song a lot because of the country sound and that it was on the album Load, which is a great album; the song is amazing with excellent lyrics and amazing singing, I applause Metallica for experimenting with another genre and nailing it). - PhoenixAura81

I just can't stand it. The singers' accents really grate on my ears the entire time. The lyrics tend to be about some sexualized romance where the girl in question is described in as much detail as possible to give off any sort of appeal or it's about drinking (which is a huge turn-off as I despise alcohol with every fiber of my body), working on a farm, tractors, and over things that I have no interest in. The worst is when my dad or brother listen to it and say that "I'll learn" whenever I say that I don't like it. I have no idea what that means but it's probably something really arrogant and condescending.

Now, I like a lot of stuff. Rock, metal, electronic, and even pop once in a while. But there is one genre I cannot stand- country music. Now, I don't really care for rap, but country music is just annoying! I hear it on the radio, and it's just... Let me explain. First, it has no beats. Rock is awesome and catchy, and so is electronica. But this is just boring ( for me at least). Next, the accent. This is the worst part for me. Why would you use the accent anyway? I had to vote for this just to comment. Anyways, I am 16 and have lived in Nashville my whole life and I'm gonna admit there's a lot of country music that sucks. But that go's for any genre, your gonna have bad artists. But country music is really good once you take the chance and actually listen to music that the radio and media throws out there. If you go to bars downtown and listen to the local artists that aren't famous but make there own music. It's great music.
