Simply amazing. If blocks were a recorded stat back then, I don't even know how many he would've averaged. And if the Defensive Player of the Year award had been around then, who knows how many he would've won? I would put hakeem at number one, can't think of any big men period who is in top ten all time in steals. Nobody also never recorded more blocks and gary payton easily earned number 3 behind scottie pippen, I would put russel at 5 based off the competition he went against, he only wilt to worry about. scottie had malone, ewing, payton, kemp, rodman with pistions, magic, drexler, starks, oakley, shaq, penny, stockton, hakeem, robinson, I can go on and same can be said for gary payton and he was smaller and still won dpoy Your ignorance of the competition in Russell's era doesn't count against him.
