    In 1980 he had the largest state funeral in history. This man, that seems unknown to many, was loved by leaders from both sides of the Cold War. His death brought enemies together in silent mourning but it also brought the end of an era of brotherhood and unity. Tito was the greatest leader of the 20th century because his influence stretched out to a global scale, but he is also the worst leader because nobody could possibly live up to his greatness. He fought off Hitler, humiliated Stalin and resisted pressure from the United States. He had a vision of what he believed was right and he didn't allow anyone to halt his journey. People talk about Lenin or Marx as the socialist revolutionaries, but they are wrong. Tito was the true revolutionary, by taking elements of many different ideologies he was able to create a truly socialist nation that strived for the people and not military or economic dominance. It wasn't about controlling the most land or having ... more

    Yugoslavia prospered under Tito. With his leadership, the country was strong and united, fought off the Nazis, and played both sides perfectly over the course of the Cold War, all this DESPITE the diverse ethnic groups that were all thirsting for independence. Yugoslavia was easily the defining neutral power in all of Europe, somehow gaining the support of the West and the Marshall Plan in spite of the fact that it was a communist country. Honestly, Tito was a political genius to say the least. Also, the fact that Yugoslavia basically collapsed the second Tito died really says something about how much of a miracle it was that he held the region together in the first place.

    For those living in former Jugoslavia Tito means something (to me everything). Internationally he was not small player but I don't dare comparing him with other great persons. We were small country, only 20 millions, and his international influence was disproportional to the size of the country. This just shows how great he was. Ideas he had are even today actual. Out of all people our dumb region had Tito is the greatest. Pity persons like him comes every few hundreds years. What he did for us, stupid Jugoslavs is becoming more and more evident now when Jugoslavia is no more and when nacionalists and religion is ruling the lifes of people. Do we have "Democracy" - yes Do we have freedom - hell no

    One of the founders of the Third World, a greatly awarded, decorated and appreciated man all around the world. Yugoslavia under Tito was the only European communist country which did not become a Soviet satellite state. Despite this, it was a country where life standards were high and lots of people who lived in this period would even argue that they liked it better under Tito's leadership. The Yugoslavian passport was also of great value and power.

    I agree Tito was the best. The only dictator loved by people. Correct he was not dictator it was one party dictatorship. However communist party was good party. It encourages people to do their best. If someone is member of communist party got privileges. To be member ones has to be the best student, the best employee, the best employer, the best pupil... As I said do your best and you got privileges. In other words everyone wanted to have privileges and consequently everyone gave the best. Tito was leader of this good party.

    His influence in UN and in liberation movements was unbelievable. Both superpowers listened his suggestions with utmost attention. Not to speak of Nonalignment movement which was shaped up by Tito and greatly influenced political events in the world. "Giant" was the word for him, commonly used by politicians around the world.

    His people were supposed to stay "on the road". Unfortunately they decided to take a turn and now we have what we have. The second world War ended in 1945. What was situation in the region 20 years later in 1965 with him as a leader? The Yugoslav wars of the 90' ended in 1995 (1999 NATO bombing of Serbia not included). What is the situation in that same region today? Again, 20 years later only this time without him?

    他是為數不多的建立一個獨立聯盟的領導人之一,他幫助許多國家的解放軍從英國、葡萄牙、德國、西班牙、美國獲得獨立(至少是官方的)……他勇敢地對斯大林說不,在朱戈斯拉維亞我們有很好的政治同盟(不是完美的),至少我們中的許多人并沒有生活在對國家控制的恐懼中,我們感到自由和平等,工人是國王,他們受到尊重,這是我在南斯拉夫的經驗

    He was one of few leaders who created one independant union that were not in west or east block and he helped liberational armies of many countries to get independance (at least official) from England, Portugal, Germany, Spain, USA... And he was brave to say NO to Stalin, in Jugoslavia we have good political sistem (not perfect), at least many of us did not live in fear of state control, we feel free and ecqual, workers were kings and they were respected. That is my experiance from Slovenija in Jugoslavija.

    只要鎖匠是我們的總統,所有的門都為我們打開,所有的騙子都被鎖在鐵窗里。盡管媒體和歷史報道封鎖,約西普·布羅茲-鐵托無疑是20世紀最優秀和最有影響力的領導人

    As long as the locksmith was our president, all the doors were unlocked for us, and all crooks were locked behind bars. Josip Broz - Tito is without a doubt, the best and the most influential leader of the 20th century, despite the media and history coverage blockade.

    -在人們認為不可能的情況下,將一個國家團結在一起多年——抵抗西方列強和蘇聯共產主義集團,在整個科爾德瓦(唯一一個這樣做的歐洲共產主義國家)保持中立(斯大林是第三世界(不結盟運動)的創始人之一)的主要領導人之一,使南斯拉夫成為第一個這樣做的共產主義國家對所有外國游客開放邊境,并取消簽證要求,積極推動阿以沖突的和平解決。1967年,鐵托提議捷克斯洛伐克領導人亞歷山大·杜布切克在接到通知后三小時內飛往布拉格,如果杜布切克需要幫助來對付蘇聯人。-只有共產主義國家才允許有大使館在阿爾弗雷多·斯特羅斯納的巴拉圭——他的公開演講經常重申,只要這些國家不利用其影響力迫使南斯拉夫站在一邊,中立與合作的政策將是自然而然的——蒂托共獲得119個獎項,而且……更多的評論達爾;

    -kept a country together for years when thought impossible -resisted both western powers and the Soviet communist block, staying neutral throughout the coldwar ( only European communist country to do so. (screw Stalin) - Chief Leader and one of the founders of The 3rd world ( non-aligned movement) -made Yugoslavia the first communist country to open its borders to all foreign visitors and abolished visa requirements -active in promoting a peaceful resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict. -1967, Tito offered Czechoslovak leader Alexander Dub?ek to fly to Prague on three hours notice if Dub?ek needed help in facing down the Soviets. -only communist country allowed to have an embassy in Alfredo Stroessner's Paraguay -His public speeches often reiterated that policy of neutrality and cooperation with all countries would be natural as long as these countries did not use their influence to pressure Yugoslavia to take sides -Tito received a total of 119 awards and ... more show more comments darr;
