If you like this you people should read BATTLE ROYALE! I used to think this book was the best book ever. Then I read battle royale. Even though it was written 9 years before this, it is better. Battle royale has 42 teenage contestants with no prior training. The program is a complete surprise to them. They are also from the same high school class so instead of a bunch of random kids it's friend against childhood friend. It vividly describes each contestants death rather than just saying " the main character heard a cannon" and not giving you any details of who died and why. Also there are forbidden zones that are added over time and if you get caught in one the collar on your neck explodes. Plus the government doesn't care if there is a winner or not. If nobody dies within 24 hours then all the collars will detonate. Plus some of the players get really screwed up in the head. Hunger games is just a toned down version of battle royale. This book can't be compared to any other book it's so amazing, the other reviews are right. I couldn't put the book down it's a page turner I never wanted it to end. The second book was great! Don't get me wrong, but compared to the first, well it wasn't with me all of the time, I love the action Suzanne has even reached the readers of a younger age now and I should know since I was 10 when I read all three of the books. When people think fantasy, they don't think of the hunger games, but I do. I am only 11 and I have already read them each 12 times over their amazing. I may be only 11 but I have read thousands of books from the hobbit to witch and wizard but this one is the best!

It's a pretty good book but it definitely not as good as lord of the rings. Lord of the rings is just so original, it even has its own language and is much longer and complex then just kids killing eachother and people stopping them from having more kids killing eachother. It's not even the best in the hunger games series, I think catching fire is the best. I am not saying it's a bad book but lord of the rings is still so well known after a long time. This will probably only be known for a couple years, not decades. I also think that Harry Potter should be above this, I think that Harry Potter also has a better story because it has more to it and is in seven long books, which is a lot of story. The movie for the first one wasn't that good. But the second one was. Anyway, it's not the worst book to have in 2nd if twilight was in second I would be really really angry at this list. Twilight doesn't deserve to be in millionth place, it's just awful This is for Hunger Games fans. It is kind of disappointing to find this on the #2 spot of "Best Books of All Time." Do not get me wrong, this is a fantastic book! But it does not deserve to be #2. It does not even deserve to be in the top 20! There are so many better books than this! Best book ever, it has fantasy, action, adventure, drama, mystery, and a somewhat feel of science fiction. It gets its fantasy because it is all fake, its action by having sudden events filled with adventure, giving the book its adventure, it gets its drama from deaths of important people that you only know for a couple hundred pages of a book, and it gets it's mystery from the parts of the book that you and the main character don't know whats going to happen next, giving you that on the edge action and mystery feel. The story gets the science fiction from the fact that it is like what might happen in the future if we keep watching reality T.V. shows and what might happen if we worship them so much that our capital, d.c., might have an uprising against us. That hasn't happened yet, so it is currently fiction, and it seems like something that would be really crazy if it did happen, so it gives the book that science fiction feeling in general. I respect your opinions on it haters. but I personally love the end line of the end book when it says something like: 'sometimes I close my eyes and imagine all the good deeds anyones ever done. its like a game. a bit boring, even a bit tedious after more than 20 years... But there r much worse games to play' ... Wow If you love dramatic stuff and betrayals and love gone wrong and all that, then you GOTTA read Warrior Cats by Erin Hunter. especially if your an animal lover. don't JUDGE OKAY THERE's TALKING CATS SO WHAT?!

Now now, I'm not saying that the hunger games is the best book in the world, but I would like to recognize it's great imagination, the bible is cool too but I'm not Christian, and the hobbit is awesome, harry potter and the deathly hallows is beast and diary of a wimpy kid is funny. World was Z is neat but what the hell is robot what ever doing here? Hamlet is way better, same for anna karenina! Let's get some good stuff here!

I personally love the hunger games, even if it's basically about a bunch of kids killing each other. There's way more to the story, like the love triangle (I'm team Peeta! ), the battle for a free Panem (the name of the country), and there are many important characters that aren't in the movies *sigh*. If you're a fan of action, and drama, I definitely recommend The Hunger Games. It's a great story and I enjoyed it so much! - haileygagnier
