How is this below Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Granted, the death toll was higher, there were innocent people, but Japan's intention was to make America useless so that it couldn't defend itself. America wanted to end the war. Japan is technically responsible for Hiroshima and Nagasaki anyways; if they hadn't bombed Pearl Harbor, America wouldn't have taken revenge. The Pearl Harbor attack isn't just tragic in itself, but also that it caused other attacks.

This was barely an attack, it was a political move, it was the Japanese trying to protect themselves by sinking the American fleet (stationed at pearl harbour). 2500 soldiers (men willing to give their lives for war) died, later on in WWII 40,000 American soldiers died in an American assault on a small Japanese island. More than 10 times the amount of people died on that assault but still something as small as pearl harbour is considered more tragic than that?

This was a horrible thing. The US at that point wasn't even involved in WW2 and Japan just decided to attack us. fun. They were absolutely brutal to us in war as well as tribes in southern asia and China. As for hiroshima and nagasaki, though it was a sad event, they had it coming for them.
