Don't forget the excitement of watching the build up to the moon landing with the earlier Apollo missions in 1969. Also Concords first flight, Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge over Troubled Waters as well as Woodstock. Also the first microchip and ARPANET. We thought science and technology would solve all our problems back then and why not with all this going on? Also the year Star Trek was first shown in the on UK T.V.. Great year to be 11/12 (like me) with the future looking so bright.

This has to be the best year. It is interesting how on all of these 'opinion' sites the younger generation choose only those years that they remember and ignore anything that actually happened? Do they still teach history in schools?
