This solo may not be the best solo ever, there are many very underrated guitarists out there, sure Eddie is pretty overrated in the guitarist world... But I still believe his is one of the best guitar players to ever pick up a guitar. Stairway to heaven is a beautifully crafted song, but is highly overrated. It is fairly simple, and if you sit in any guitar shop you will hear someone playing it... Not eruption which takes way more skill.

Jesus, everything you said in that entire paragraph was completely deluded and wrong. Stairway To Heaven is not one of my favorite solos, but it's not stolen lol. Unless you're talking about the acoustic riff at the beginning, which sounds like Spirit by Taurus. And it doesn't matter that Comfortably Numb is slow, in fact the slower solos are better and more melodic. There is no other guitar solo that has ever been as thrilling as Comfortably Numb. And the Beatles are terrible? THE BEATLES bruh god please help this kid. They're not one of my favorite bands, but I still acknowledge that they are, without a question, the best band of all time. Now, about Eruption. This solo is just really fast, and there's no melody to it. It's the most overrated solo of all time and Eddie Van Halen has so many better solos. (Example: Beat It) And to assume I listen to generic pop music and don't have taste is so dumb. I don't listen to any pop music at all and I can tell you that Eruption is straight up not enjoyable. The main bands I listen to are Rush, Led Zeppelin, The Who and Pink Floyd. Would you call that generic pop music? I don't think so. - Swiftyboi47

Eddie is absolutely the best guitar player in my generation if not ever. He's proven this many times over. He is also a total musical freak! I am sure he holds more patents that any other guitar player. But it still comes down to which band and musical style you prefer. Jimmy Page playing " Stairway to Heaven " is beautiful, but not the best solo ever.
