Tough decision between Hallowed be Thy Name and The Number of The Beast... If you need to give a perfect example for heavy metal music, then this is the right song! Awesome vocal intro and really great riffs throughout the whole song. I know the whole song's lyrics by heart! I still haven't decided what my favourite song of all time is, but this is definitely a strong candidate!

This is the first Maiden song I heard, and is still my favorite. This song is amazing! The eerie spoken word intro quoting the book of revelations is followed by a subdued first verse which explodes into a primal scream and heavy guitar chords. What follows is simply one of the most kick-ass heavy metal songs of all time!

Should be number 1, no doubt. The most iconic metal song every written. When it comes on unexpectedly, say in the car or at a party, goosebumps every time. Plus I then start to drive like a complete idiot.
