This is the game that started it all. This is the game that defined my childhood. This is the game that led us on the start of an unforgettable journey. In my opinion, the original Kingdom Hearts is the best in the franchise (with KH2 being my second favorite). The best thing about it was it's ability to keep everything simple yet clean (see what I did there? ) from the story to the gameplay, the original KH built on the foundation on making everything really straightforward, but really fun at the same time (something that the series has driven away from (not that the series isn't good anymore)). Now of course, the story may be very simple compared to the others, and isn't that deep, but it still is certainly really good, and has those "oh my gosh! " moments that made you love the game even more. I'll admit, the combat has a LOT of issues here and there, but the amount of great content the game has to offer will make you overlook those issues, and make you craving and wanting to jump ... more

This game is my favorite because its graphics are good enough to be impressive without getting in the way. the story is easy to follow but has a few plot twists. I like how unlike with reaction commands in KH2, flow motion in Dream Drop distance, or overpowered commands in Birth By Sleep, you have to rely on fighting based off of enemy behaviors and not spamming special moves. My favorite thing that this game has that the others don't though is the fact that your teammates, though not overpowered, are powerful enough to put good amounts of damage on most enemies and bosses.

There's something so pure about the first Kingdom Hearts game that I can't really put into words. Maybe part of it is just the nostalgia I have for it, seeing as how I'd played a decent chunk of it a few years back and the rest this year, but KH 1 has something so great to it that I don't think a single game in the series aside from this one has ever captured. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I think about it... It's so simple and clean, too. It's almost like a fairy tale. It's wonderful, it really is. - regularshowman

This is the only one I've gotten to know, but I can definitely say its awesome. All of the other games are probably awesome too, but this one is the original. My favorite part is when Sora kills himself, right before that, he smiles like before, I cried and the whole story is just amazing, I'm going to start working on chain of memories next, but this will probably beat it. I'm anxious to get to the Roxas games.

In my opinion, this game is the best Kingdom Hearts game. It is the most Disney-centered game in the series. It has a simple plot, but a good one. A main part of plot is focused around defeating the Disney villains who are trying to kidnap Disney princesses. The Disney worlds are amazing. As a Disney fan, I feel like this game brings out the most Disney, which is why it is my favorite Kingdom Hearts game.

Although Birth By Sleep is a close runner up, the first Kingdom Hearts is unparalleled in its execution. The sense of awe and wonder, the powerful emotional resonance, and the nostalgic quest through classic worlds all added up to an unforgettable gaming experience. I cried real tears at the end, both times I played it. Kingdom Hearts is truly one of a kind.

I have played every Kingdom Hearts save Birth By Sleep, and I can still say this one is my favorite. The gameplay was more thoughtful and challenging with the platforming and puzzle elements, and the storyline was charming and the characters genuine.

I have got to tell that Kingdom Hearts 1 was one of the better games I've ever played. KH2 wasn't bad either but it was way too easy compared to Kingdom Hearts 1.I remember getting out of bed at 5AM just to play this game! Can't wait for the 1.5 HD Remix, no-lifing all week long :3Die-hard KH fan! Love the series
