As everything indie and in the "horror" category, this game spawned a plethora of youtubers faking their emotions and exagerating the "spookyness" (I'm looking at that cancerous trio of weirdos with dyed hair). And as always, their fanbase wanted to play what they were playing, and the internet got flooded with that "game" for as long as the hype lasted. Dull gameplay, lame story. Without these people, we wouldn't even know about this game.

This game got the recognition it has because of the millions of videos that people put on youtube when playing this game. And when PewDiePie posted such videos, almost everyone started playing it. To be honest, I did try it myself to see if it was scary as many claimed to be. I was dissapointed. At least the sequel has more scary parts than this one.
