Her serve - best ever (first and second), her back hand - awesome, Her forearm - powerful, Movement athletic, her mental fortitude untouchable. Serena is dominating in an era when tennis is really open to a lot more people round the world the top 100 to day can easily compete in the early era of tennis. Graf supporters will say she held the number 1 ranking for so long but Seles who had taken the number 1 rank from her and was dominating for a long while even as a teen as subsequent stabbed and taken out of the game which allowed Graf hold on for another 87 weeks. My second best ever will have to be Navratilova for her achievements in tennis.

Is this suppose to be an early Halloween prank? Serena is most certainly not better than Steffi, or even close for that matter. I mean back in Graf's final year 99 despite playing nowhere close to her best tennis she still beat Serena 2 out of the 3 times they played. And Serena barely was able to beat Steffi in 3 sets in spite of a clearly slowed down Graf. Coming back after nearly 2 years of career threatening injuries and playing sub par tennis Steffi beat Davenport, Hingis, Clijsters, Capriati, Seles, Venus, and Serena. Plus won another GS, and reached the final of another. And had she not retired before the U.S. Open then Graf would've been consoling Serena for losing to her instead of Serena winning her 1st GS.

SW will get to #25 and this debate will close. Even the arguement about the 4 slams in one Calender yr does not make much sense, especially considering she has held four in a row more than once already. I see this arbitrary cut off of a Calender yr as a red herring really partly because the challenge is to win on different surfaces partly to hold all 4 at the same time. As a clincher I ask the hypothetical question, what happens when someone ends up winning 5 in a row starting with say Wimbledon and ending the streak with a successful defense the following yr? Add an Onlympic gold in this haul! Would that still be viewed as a lesser achievement than the 4 in one Calender yr? Clearly that would make zero sense!Serena is the GOAT, but is also still increasing her numbers as the only active player in this debate.I look forward to #25!

I think she has the most powerful serve the women's game has ever seen. I think Graf and Navratilova would come in second and third (though maybe not in that order). Though Martina and Steffi were both great champions, I don't think they were quite as powerful or fast as Serena. Yes, Graf beat Serena before, but I think Serena was on her way in and Steffi was on her way out. Neither player was at her peak.
