Sauron tried to have gandolf killed because he's like the god of the middle earth and sauron is the devil.

I think sauron is the most evil villain of all time because in the last movie of the trilogy of Lord of the rings The return of the king he killed bunch of people in a huge land of lava and sauron is the devil of middle earth the lord of hell just in the movies of lord of the rings.
