Oh. My. God. This thing is REALLY overrated.Granted, it had some good games. But no, it's not the best.If it wasn't for those few good games, this console would be a Sony version of the Sega Megadrive.Mortal Combat, Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy and Shadow of the Collosus are all GREAT games, but they don't make the PS2 the best.The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (often regarded as the second best console ever) had in my opinion the best video game ever, Super Mario World as well as some incredible games like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, Yoshi's Island, EarthBound, Mega Man X, Super Castlevania IV, the list goes on.What did the PlayStation 2 have? It was a good console, but I got sick and tired of hearing about it all the time back in the day.Personally, I preferred GameCube and Xbox. Both had more exclusives titles that I liked, and they both had 4 controller ports. GameCube had the GameBoy Player, and Xbox had internal storage, so it didn't need memory cards (it was optional). PS2 had some good games like Kingdom Hearts and Persona 3/4, but only had 2 controller ports and for the multiplats, the PS2 version was the weakest. - TheDelBel

It sold much more then the other 6th generation systems but all Xbox, gamecube and dreamcast were far better they were lighter and slimmer had a memory card or a hard drive not both. All other systems of the time had 4 controller ports the PS2 only had 2 the DVD player would brake the system the CD music did not work and it was all around a overly glorified play station one. Not the 128 bit peace of heaven it is called it is a recycled 32 bit PS1

This sold better than the Xbox or Gamecube, but I think BOTH of its competitors were superior. The Xbox didn't need memory cards, and the Gamecube was Nintendo (enough said). Also, they both had better controllers and four controller ports instead of two.
