Guns do not just grow arms and legs and start killing people, as another user mentioned. People started killing people with bombs so the killing will never stop. There are open-minded conservatives in this world, but unfortunately they are not the ones who are in Congress. We used to have a fairly open-minded congressman from Minnesota named Jim Ramstad, but he retired from Congress when it became so divisive. The closed-mindedness of this Congress is perfectly illustrated by over 40 votes to defund the Affordable Health Care Act, even though they know president Obama will veto it and it has no chance of passing. I really don't know how conservatives can defend spending so much time and money on something they know won't be productive.

It should probably be extreme conservatives instead of just conservatives in general. Extreme conservatives blame everything on liberals and make obnoxious jabs at them. They offer no real solutions to issues, and their excuse for most things are "Durr, YER a libtard" when a study shows liberals having a higher IQ than conservatives, or "Obama dun diddly dun screwed up Amurica". In light of Trump's popularity, it doesn't surprise me that I will likely hate extreme conservatives until my heart fails.
