Dedede is truly the best character in the Kirby series. He's a villain, but he isn't at the same time. He's a fat greedy boi bent on stealing all of Dream Land's food, but he helps Kirby when it comes to situations that would potentially destroy Dream Land, or Planet Popstar, or things like that. He's very well portrayed by his actor in the Kirby: Right Back At Ya anime, just wanting to get rid of Kirby so he can proceed to "rule" Dream Land without any interruption. He's just number one, let's be honest.

Overall the best. If you pay attention to the timeline, Dedede is absent in amazing mirror and when he reappears in squeak squad, he HELPS Kirby on his cake mission. This can be concluded from the time in super star ultra(which may have chronologically come before said games) when he was beaten as masked dedede by Kirby and left the kingdom. It seems that in the time he was away he had received personality development(however, he's still got his flaws). Even though he's a bit narcissistic at times(a bit? That's kind of an underexaggeration) he still cares about Kirby, Bandanna dee, and even meta knight because they're his friends. He also tends to rush into things and smash them with a hammer to solve problems(reminds me of Amy Rose a bit) and at times can be used against the enemy. This may have been a bit of a weird essay, but I just wanted to show that Dedede's probably the best around!
