Princess Peach is one of the first characters that comes to mind for me when you say damsel in distress. She's really never been useful in any of the Mario games I've played (but I haven't played much), and she is a pathetic crybaby. If you want to see her at her best, read the Mario comics. I agree that she's not "cranky and bossy" and that the kidnapping stories need to stop. However, I disagree with "she should not be on this list" because she's a terrible character (a helpless damsel in distress and nothing more) in *most* Mario games. Until Nintendo actually starts putting effort into making her more competent and appealing, she should be on this list. - Treacle
