A strong women with new ideas based on US free market economy she did what she said she would. It's a shame these actions including spending cuts lead to a 3.5 million unemployed, strikes after strikes and a UK recession created by her actions! Her privatisation of British Gas made bills higher, her de-regulation of the banks caused the 2008 crash. A huge rise inequality and a decline in manufacturing still felt today! She could be nasty and vicious her party threw her out in 1990 due to this, she did not listen or compromise her views not a quality of a good leader. She demonstrates perfectly the flaws of capitalism.

I couldn't agree more. What an idiot she was. In 1979, the UK had emerged from a time of recession and was now doing well, thanks to the previous Prime Minister. By 1990, inequality was high, and the economy was about to collapse. Unemployment was at a high, bills were high, strikes continued from the initial mining closures in 1985. The far-right idiocy of her 1989 poll tax will not be forgotten. Boosted the few, ruined the many. - submergedboy

Thatcher saved this country from a communist labour party who forced private company's over to the public at their expense these people worked hard for what they had only for labour to take it away and bankrupt decent honest people they gave money to people who didn't want to work and that's acceptable!? They caused the winter of discontent and rats cats and wild dogs had a field day they nearly bankrupted GB and turned us into a third world country what that achieved after those commie dim wits was nothing short of a miracle poor hugos needs to put some glasses on and look at the state labour left us in everyone on strike and no earning poor Hugo hasn't got a clue what he's talking about it bet his granddad was a commie miner

Churchill? Best? Absolutely not! Yes, I admire Churchill for uniting us and leading us to victory during WWII, But Lloyd George did the same in WWI. Baroness Thatcher, in my opinion, was a remarkable woman, a role model for young children. She shows little girls around the world that women can achieve exactly the same as men; that we're all equal under the eyes of God, who gives us equal opportunities. She ran our country well. I absolutely admire this legendary woman!

Without a doubt, the best Prime Minister in British History. Socialists will whine and howl about how she inflicted too much damage on the economy, but as someone who remembers the 70s and how Labour almost destroyed Britain and made us the Sick Man of Europe, I know those were drastic times that called for drastic measures. It was do or die, if anybody else had been in her shoes, Britain would have ceased to exist within a decade.

Hands down the best. Introduced free market economics to England, making London one of the largest thriving economies, dealt with the union strikes and made it affordable for the working man to buy a house. Amazing women, love or hate her- you gave to admire her

She stole milk, passed section 28 a homophobic law, created the highest number of unemployment, increased poverty, called Nelson Mandela a terrorist, supported apartheid, also increased inequality, workers organised strikes against her, also she destroyed manufacturing, also she created the highest number of unemployment - HugoS

Although I strongly disagree with her socially Conservative views I think, economically, she took Britian from being the sick man of Europe to being a powerful economic powerhouse, where the country wouldn't be dictated to by undemocratic trade unions. I hope she eventually surpasses that war criminal Blair soon!

Blair better than Margaret Thatcher? Blair was a traitor who would have sold his country to keep his sorry ass and his excuse for a political party in power. Margaret Thatcher saved this country from ruin at the hand of lunatic socialists

The Iron LadyNot winning a constituency in 1950 could stop her, eventually winning in 1959, one of the first MP's to be a woman, wining the Conservative leadership in 1975, and then General Election in 1979.Starting from working in a bakery, to being dubbed 'The Iron Lady' by the soviets, and evening dancing with Ronald Reagan, this is not just a political story, this is a story of true success. From having some of the lowest approval ratings, after vigorous spending cuts, to Winning The Falklands War, a true war that was never declared. Striking fear into the Argentinian Navy, and feeling the stings of it today. She will be remembered, saving the economy, Winning the Falklands back, and helping to bring down the soviets, and not caring much for re-election, she got the job done, and by God she did it well.
