Texas people have jobs (abundant commerce) therefore they are happy, kind, friendly and helpful. As stated above Texas still provides quality education so they do not fit the "ignorant southerner" misconception. It is a multi-cultural state and true Texans do not accept racism and WILL stand against it when it arises. There is so much to see and do, theatre, museums, pro athletic teams, and so many restaurants, cafes, coffee shops. you could visit a different restaurant every day for years!

I was visiting NY with my daughter and we went and rented bikes to ride around Central Park and the gentleman who rented the bikes to us said that out of many tourist his favorite are the people from Texas. Ironically after reading these comments, I have to say that the man who rented us the bikes was black. I don't doubt racism exist but let's be honest here, prejudice is part of ALL colors. I was raised in poor, predominately black area, and "darker" blacks got made fun of and as a general rule is "less desired" from many in the community I was raised in, and then we also have to address white discrimination, I was the only white kid in the school and I was made fun of, picked on and stereo typed a lot. There was one white girl and I did not like her at all. I liked many other pretty black girls and said so. Once these other girls heard I ended up having a black girlfriend. I have visited Texas many times, and the folks there are great! Texas is also known for great schools and colleges with nicely landscaped campuses that are well maintained. Most importantly, Texas is a reasonable place for small and large businesses interested in relocating or expanding their operations, and reasonable cost of living.

I have lived in five states and traveled to many others. Texans are the nicest and most helpful to strangers. I was most impressed that the people working at Wall Mart went out of their way to help me find what I needed during my first week in Amarillo. Years later I'm srill here.

I was born and raised in Houston Texas and I am still living here.There are a few homeless people that roam the streets near downtown but I have never seen one of them walk up to anyone's car.Everyone is so nice here and I have never walked past anyone who didn't smile or say hi to me.Everybody is so helpful.After Harvey hit a lot of homes were destroyed and Houston stayed STRONG and everybody is trying to make Houston great again.
