In theory, the idea of getting people to know about Autism, what's it like, and why people with Autism can do the same things as people without is a good idea, but Autism Speaks doesn't take the right approach. In fact, they're just making things worse for people with Autism. They've been known for comparing Autism to diseases and plagues and putting a negative connotation on it. Last I knew, they had no corporate members who actually HAVE Autism, so it's basically an organization of random people making assumptions about Autism and calling them "official". I'd rather see people who actually have Autism be the spokespeople for it and for the people who actually have Autism to be the people to explain what it's actually like. I can take Autism jokes and I laugh at them, but in all seriousness, people with Autism are the only ones who actually know what it's like to have it. Mini rant over. - Turkeyasylum
