In terms of how much fanfiction it has, DEFINITELY Harry PotterIn terms of the actual series, however: Lord Of The Rings, contrary to popular belief, has aged laughably poorly, has an extremely shallow and over-explained plot, is generally an extremely generic and cliched high-fantasy story, and is honestly one of the literal definitions of the infamous "Purple Prose" trope as far as I'm concerned; as for Harry Potter, basically just take everything I just said about LOTR and then combine "high-fantasy" with "high-school drama". Overall, at least LOTR can actually decide which genre it wants to be and also isn't NEARLY as insufferable of a cash cow (dear GOD, where do I even begin with HP's merchandise) - xandermartin98
