Infinity War . didn't do very well in characterization. In fact, it mostly sacrificed character growth for characters like Loki, Gamora, and Cap for the progression and plot, which isn't a very bad thing, but makes us not root for them or feel bad for them very much. With Endgame however, it may not follow progression and plot as well as the latter, but it does characterize the characters better that we feel very bad for them and we root for them.
