If you like men NZ is not the place for you. I can confirm having spent most of my life living here. Ne w Zealand is a country that until recently was very much overlooked. Now people have started to extend their horizons a bit more and have discover our little gem at the bottom of the world. It is the kind of place you retire and settle down in as it is safe, beautiful and full of kind and hospitable people and healthy to live in too, however personally I have found that it is not the kind of place to spend your teen years and early adulthood as it is not exactly party central. However to live in from your 30s onward it's absolutely perfect. My kind of paradise, I love the land of the long white cloud and can assure you that yes it certainly lives up to it's expectations perhaps it even precedes them. I live here and I would probably never live anywhere else. The surroundings are beautiful, the government is stable, there isn't TOO much poverty and the country is wealthy. Sure, like any country, there are some bad points, but mostly my country is incredible. Godzone, Middle Earth, Southern Polynesia, Britain or 'Switzerland of the South Seas' as a news article here recently described it, - New Zealand or "Aotearoa" as the Maori call this country at the bottom of the world, truly is blessed by nature, by its location (remote is good, afar is bliss but there is Australia nearby for visa-free excursions, and the tropical Pacific Islands), and by its warm hearted people ( called "Kiwis"). This country never registered on my horizon until Lord of the Rings. The secret is well and truly out about this far away yet highly developed, awesome nation and society in the South Pacific. No country is perfect but I'm so grateful to have made my home here.
