As injection, especially intramuscular will cause severe problems and sometimes even be deadly. Very dangerous when used for recreation.

It's not the most effective of opiates like for instance morphine, heroin or hydromorphone ( Dilaudid ). But like every opiate very addictive and because of the high doses you have to snort,it can cause respiratory depression more quickly than morphine or heroin and therefore more dangerous to overdose and to fall in a coma ( and if you're unlucky you can die of overdose with this substance ).
