Was going to vote for Physical Graffiti but this one edges it out slightly, though not because of Stairway to Heaven (which is still an amazing song):1. Black Dog-- Lyrics are kind of basic in my opinion, but I enjoy the song's structure and instrumentation.2. Rock and Roll-- Classic... Well, rock and roll! The title speaks for itself, definite high point on the album.3. The Battle of Evermore-- Not my favorite on the album, but for the sake of Page incorporating a mandolin, it's a very solid attempt.4. Stairway to Heaven-- Another example of fine structural build-up, though since I'm a softy the first four minutes of the song are what I enjoy the most. Top 10 in songs ever composed.5. Misty Mountain Hop-- Solid song.6. Four Sticks-- My least favorite on the album.7. Going to California-- It is either When the Levee Breaks or this for my personal favourite. The best album in the world by the best band in the world at the absolute peak of their abilities. Led Zep I is a blues rock album with some folk and hard rock thrown in. Led Zep II is a hard rock album with some blues and folk rock thrown in. Led Zep III is a folk rock album with some blues and hard rock thrown in. IV manages to be a perfect mix of the three. Only Four Sticks has anything close to a flaw. It's a bit flat, and the vocals are too high. This was corrected when Page and Plant did it live in the 90s. A perfect album if you take that version instead.

My favorite album of all time by any artist. People say the only reason it's famous is because of Stairway to Heaven, but they neglect to realize that it also has the heaviness of Rock and Roll and Black Dog, the folk rock elements in The Battle of Evermore, the mystification of Misty Mountain Hop and When The Levee Breaks, the superb lyrics and vocals in Four Sticks, and last but not least the folk-sounding mellowness of Going to California.

I may prefer some songs better on other albums, but the whole way through, this album stays strong. For example, "Houses of the Holy'' is a great album, but it doesn't stay strong the whole way through. Did they have to put "The Crunge'' on there? Same for "Presence.'' "Achilles Last Stand'' is in my top 3 Zeppelin tracks, but the rest of the album doesn't hold up to it. However, on "Led Zeppelin 4'', the whole album is amazing- and since it includes "Stairway to Heaven'' this has got to be on top.

Stairway appears on this album, but so does When the Levee Breaks, Misty Mountain Hop, Rock and Roll and Going to California. I also think what puts this album over the top it put the exclamation point and permanently established Zeppelin's place as rock legends.

Literally EVERY song in this album would be a standout song if placed in any other album. To have sheer level of awesomeness, combined with each song characteristically supporting one another LED ZEPPELIN IV remains my favourite album of all time.

Number 2 in my ranking of Led Zeppelin albums.Black Dog is one of the best riffs ever. Sexist song in rock n roll as slash puts it. The best riff the Great Jimmy Page ever wrote and played. Best song on their album and easily a top 5 in their entire catalog.Rock and Roll is another fabulous track and is well executed by all 4 individuals. A top 15 zep tune for certain. When the levee breaks is somewhat under the radar among non hardcore Zeppelin fans. It's a top 15 as well.Stairway to heaven is the tune everyone raves about and rightfully so.. it's a special piece of guitar work and writing and would probably rate top 3 in everyone's ranking even if not mine. Definitely up there though. It's the song that brings people into this album no doubt. Going to California is one of the bands best acoustic tracks and the riff fun riff of Misty Mountain Hop is extremely Jimmy Page.The battle of evermore is another great track that's often overlooked by mainstream radio exclusive ... more

Stairway to Heaven is the gratest song ever, just look at the sensitivity... just a masterpieceand of course...
