Seriously, everything about this album is just too good to be true. 77 minutes of pure beauty. Not to mention it even has a story to follow. Sure I might not call it the greatest album of all time. Dark side of the Moon has that honor. I find it sad that this album will never get the sheer amount of respect it deserves. Dream Theater is just without a doubt the current gods of music. My favorite album of all time. So many amazing moments. Every song is incredible. The only two albums that stand toe to toe with this album are The Wall by Pink Floyd, and Terminal Redux by Vektor. Very few records can truly be described as all out masterpieces, and without a doubt this album is one of them. The story is interesting and dramatic, the music is complex yet emotional, and James' voice is simply magical on this album. The use of spoken word on this album is also really special, because it isn't just a narrator telling you the story, it's a character form the story speaking directly to you/Victoria. AND THAT'S NOT IT, he actually plays a massive role in the story too! I love this album so much.

This album is an absolute masterpiece from beginning to end, you know it's amazing when you check how far into the album you are and it's almost over. This is, in my opinion, the album that saved Dream Theater, after Derek's departure and the failure of Falling into Infinity, without this album I feel like my favorite band would've broken up. Again, masterpiece, definitely deserves #1.

When you write a concept album as beautifully as this and you have such amazing musicians to back it up, you're looking at one of the best albums of all time. The tracks range from slow and methodical to heavy and face melting but you're so lost in the scenery that you can hardly tell the shift.

Last few year I have heard over 50 (rock, hard rock, metal, death metal, heavy metal, thrash metal many more) bands of all time best but I didn't get instrumental, lyrical and awesome vocal pleasure except dream theater. All of DT album are magnificent and best of best is Metropolis part 2:Scenes from a memory.

A Severely overrated album. The sound is way too chaotic and can get unnerving through one entire listen. If you're trying to get friends into Dream Theater, this album is not the one I'd suggest. It's not that it's a bad album, but many of their other albums are better.

When I 1st bought this album it was because of the long tracks. I had it playing in my car. 1st minute I was going to turn it off, but thought I would wait to exit car park. Glad I waited. Played it for 2 months non-stop. It blew my mind! But in a nice way!
