I grew up with the trash movement and experienced the birth of speed. I still buy every new release by the Big Four and their (supposed) little brothers; Testament, Exodus and Overkill. However, Overkill wins on pure consistency. While the others were breaking up, taking a long hiatus or releasing steaming piles of St. Anger, Overkill weathered the storm and continually produced quality thrash albums. While the next generations were paying ridiculous prices to go watch Linkin Park lip sync, I was paying twenty bucks a ticket to watch Bobby Blitz scream his balls off. They never disappoint. Overkill is the true thrash band in every sense of the genre. - Relixx599

When compareing Overkills catalog of albums to the bands in the big 4 or other classic thrash acts such as exodus, testament, death angel, dark angel, etc. what's the one thing do you notice? Well if you don't then I'll tell you, it's there ability to constantly put out good albums. There first 5, classics, masterpieces. Same goes for the other bands to an extent with there albums. Exodus and testament do have a couple of duds, Metallica isn't what they use to be, megadeth and slayer are some what of a bore. Anthrax are decent with there recent albums but the 90s album still bad. But overkill? Is there really a bad album? There's some that aren't a single great as the rest of their catalog but bad? underwhelming? Nah, overkill kills it, and they bring on the pain better with each release and live show than anybody else.

A much overrated band. Bobby Blitz is a monster of a vocalist. The other bands here are great (some of them) but for me these are number 1, partly because they are painfully underratedAnd I have to get it off my chest: could ya stop worrying about wether its's thrash or not? Thrash is just a bloody name they gave the bands from a certain period with common aspects, who cares if they deviated from the style? Bands can evolve, and just being a thrash band doesn't make you great Kerry

I grew up being a huge Megadeth fan, and still is. But when I first heard Overkill, not too long ago by the way, I was blown away. All their albums are rooted in thrash but very different from each other. In my opinion, they have only gotten better over the years. There last 2 albums are some of my favorite thrash metal I have heard in a long time. Megadeth did some good stuff in the early 2000's and Anthrax's newest album was quite good, but everything Overkill does is great..

Whoever said that overkill is better than Metallica is not smart. They are both great bands. If you say better " thrash" then I see your point. Overkills new album explains that they have stayed true to there music which is why they aren't mainstream sellouts. I have to give it to metallica that they are more diverse than over kill. Death magnetic has nothing on ironbound. I love them both though

The most consistently excellent heavy metal band that isn't named Motorhead or Saxon. They've released some sub-par albums, but you show me an outright bad Overkill album and ill show you a bold faced liar. Their best 80s and 90s material stand their ground against the Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer's 80s and 90s classics. Their most recent albums (Ironbound, The Electric Age, and White Devil Armory) absolutely wreck every album the Big 4 have released in the last 10 years at least. Fast, Catchy, and FUN.

Say what you want about Overkill, but they have flown the thrash flag for almost thirty years non stop. While mahy other thrash bands softened up in their old age, Overkill kept to their guns and thankfully, is still releasing awesome thrash metal to this day. These guys are dedicated to their art like no one else. They are truly an amazing thrash band. Put them where they deserve to be. - Racing_with_the_devil
