My generation's Rolling Stones. U2 used to be good but they have been together for long enough that they have become washed up. "Beautiful Day" and "Sweetest Thing" are proof of this. The really great material--War, The Unforgettable Fire, and The Joshua Tree--are part of the past, and Bono has become so preachy and political now that it perturbs me.

U2 is an awesome band. At the 00's they didn't have any album that I could really like, just some songs. Songs of Innocence is one of the rare 100% acceptable U2 albums (my opinion ofc). When Bono started that human rights thing, people couldn't look at his face without telling him to shut up (LMAO). The Edge is an awesome guitarist, I don't think that his band could be called overrated because of the orange sunglasses guy's weird activism.Everybody knows U2 because of "Bono, the douchebag activist". U2 is more than that. Bono is not the entire band (and he isn't a bad singer). Their 2000-2015 singles got really better.

U2 should be number 1. I hated them in the 80's. I hate them way more now. There are a million better bands out there. People act like they are the best thing since sliced bread. They have never been creative or talented. Just boring and repetitive. Echo and the Bunnymen were thousands times better. Simple Minds were awesome and the exact opposite of U2 and deaf people always compare the two.

They have been overrated at their prime and now criminally underrated. Opposite timeline to Queen. Coldplay need to allow U2 to finish their story they started. And the public need to get behind U2 because they are the last remaining important band although you wouldn't think it.

Totally agree, British comic Bill Bailey does a great piss-take of the Edge's useless guitar playing, there's a solo on "Blood Red Sky" where he gets caught out and can't even busk it, useless bunch of tossers!

I just don't see all the fuss about them. People put them in the top 20 artists of all time, but they're not really good. They had two pretty good albums and a couple ok songs, but they should by no means be counted as one of the best bands of all time.
