My second favorite animated feature next to Beauty and the Beast and explores several similar themes, albeit with a more guarded heroine who represents the archetype of a damsel in distress. The central theme is again true love and the sacrifice and courage it takes to recognize a dream. Also, one of my favorite songs ever: "Once Upon A Dream"- next to Beauty and the Beast, this is what I would dub a crowning achievement in film-making, not simply animation. (I refer Disney classics as before Walt Disney died. ) It has romance like Snow White 1937, Darkness like Fantasia 1940, Fun like The Reluctant Dragon 1941, Funny like Peter Pan 1953, Sad like Dumbo 1941, Happy like Bambi 1942, and lovable like Cinderella!
