Peridot is great because of all her quirks; relatable ones, too, since admit it or not, most of us fans are insecure and awkward with next to none physical capabilities who hides behind some kind of blanket. We can be rude, we can be inconsiderate, we can be completely heartless and moronic. With most characters, them apologizing and making up for their mistakes are brushed over or skipped. This has been always a big annoyance for me. But Peridot on the other hand, is explored thoroughly. Almost everything she gone through it relatable. And we can't say that she's without flaw; she had tons. And the best thing is that she tells us that no, it's not okay, and yes, you have to make up for it, and no, you can't expect it to just blow over and more importantly, yes, you will still be loved. As was proven by her placed in the top of the poll!

I love Peridot because of her personality and comic relief style humor, which is amazing. However, what puts her over the top for me is that we get to see her character progression. From fed up technician, to recurring goofy villain, to angry little slice of pie, to reluctant ally, to eventual friend and member of the crystal gems. I just love seeing her character progress overtime as she becomes more and more redeemed. Seeing her genuinely care about Lapis and trying to patch things up shows her progression and how she really is changing for the better. Plus she called yellow diamond a clod in one of my favorite moments of the series.

I love her ignorance about Earth culture. At first I though she was a ruthless, cold blooded gem who wanted to destroy the crystal gems but now her new form which makes her completely harmless. I also loved the part when she revolted against her kind by insulting Yellow Diamond when she called her a clod. Her confident personality seems to change if her "limb enhancers" are not attached to her. Even though she never shows it, she seems to have concern over others such as when Steven passed out due to hallucinations and dizziness. Even without her limb enhancers, she has discovered her true ability, Ferrokinesis that allows her to control and levitate metal to her own will. Since Steven was her first friend, she seems to cling on him at times. Even without many abilities, she is strong, confident, and very funny and that is why I think Peridot is the best character in Steven Universe

Peridot was a unique character. When her character was explored in depth in the later episodes of season 2, I felt like I could empathize with her the most. She was a character who thought in a logical manner. She would only do things if there was an actual reason behind them. This made her unique from the other Crystal Gems, who thought emotionally rather than rationally. But, it appears that as of her defection from Homeworld, she has dropped almost all her logic and reason in favor of becoming a comic relief character. If this is what the Peridemption was going to come to, I would rather she had stayed a villain.

I'm going to be super honest here. Peridot is the reason I started watching Steven Universe. I don't know if it was fair to decide my favorite character based on what a really good Youtuber says, but I researched into her backstory and character and all that jazz and I was amazed at how complex and interesting it was. I then started watching some Steven Universe episodes, but only Peridot episodes, and as of posting this I haven't watched anything other than Peridot episodes in Steven Universe. And oh man she was everything I thought she would be. She is SOOO funny(if I had to pick a favorite Steven Universe Episode out of the ones I've watched, I'd say either "Too Far" or "Catch and Release"). Anyone who doesn't like Peridot, but likes LAPIS of all characters is a big muddy clod.

I believe that out of all the gems on the show thus far (I'm writing this after Greg the baby sitter), she has changed the most. From being the first introduced homeworld enemy to being their first homeworld ally THEN to being this shows very first NEW CRYSTAL GEM. Plus, she's adorable! It is so interesting to see an enemy become an ally, and how much she changed! I would not mind it AT ALL if she became the main charachter of the show, though I know that can't happen haha. Plus, she has an official Twitter account- @PERIDOT5XG. What more could you want?!

Peridot has had some rough times in the show, but she has always managed to stay as my favorite character of all time. She has had tremendous development in the show since we first saw her and she always is eager to learn more about the other gems and Earth. When everyone else is in the dark, Peridot is the one that shares her knowledge and sheds some light on the situation. I can't wait for when she fuses for the first time. All and all, anyone who thinks Peridot shouldn't be #1 is a clod!

Peridot is my favorite Steven Universe character because she is so funny. She is not afraid to show her opinion and speak out when she thinks differently. She is very courageous and strong.
