Lapis is an underrated character. I get why people are pissed at her for the things that she's done, and her trauma is not an excuse for it, but some people refuse to see her side of the story and that the other gems have done bad stuff too. Yes, she was abusive towards Jasper, but it's clear that she feels bad about it. She did fuse with Jasper for revenge, and so that she could protect the Crystal Gems from her. Lapis is an emo legend, too. I love her, and she's actually really relatable, coming from a girl who's similar to her. I don't blame her for running away to space when she heard about the Diamonds coming back (although I have no idea why she took the barn with her), because she was terrified that something bad would happen to her again. I'd like to think that before Lapis got trapped in the mirror, she was happy with her life. I wouldn't be surprised if Lapis has considered suicide after all the crap she's been through, because I'd sure as hell do it if I'd been through what ... more - TheRingFangirl7

She's a pretty cool gen with cool powers. She just seems so unlucky first being at the wrong place at the wrong time and being trapped in a mirror. Then kidnapped as soon as she was able to return home. Then had to trap herself to protect Steven from jasper. That was very sweet of her to do that for Steven. And she also did something cool also involving jasper as when he tried to fuse with her again, she told her something along the lines of 'NO! I was unhappy never want to feel that way again! It was an unhealthy relationship! ' So she's someone you can look up to with that, showing if someone makes u unhappy, don't b with them (something I think WOMAN need to realize when in a relationship with a man 'they love').

Lapis is my favorite gem, next to Garnet and Steven (and Stevvonie is she counts). Her character is so interesting. She has a mystery background and I. The mirror we saw a side if we didn't get to see when she was out. In the mirror she seemed to like Steven (for his innocence and human nature, I assume) and liked to see him laugh. You could just tell that she want evil, she just wanted a friend, company. She seemed like a playful character. The only reason Lapis attacked the gems is because they emprisoned her and she was clearly confused and angry and hurt. She seems to still care for Steven and I hope she does get her peace at some pint in the show because she seriously couldn't have a worst awakening into the world. I hope she gets her redemption and happiness.

Can we vote multiple times because I think lapis, peridot, garnet, pearl, Greg, amethyst, and Steven are all amazing characters? I also like jasper and Connie a lot too. I personally just chose lapis because I can relate to her on so many levels. I too have depression and find it hard adjusting on this earth although I been here going on 23 years. There are also so many days like today where I just feel numb so this paragraph I'm typing probably makes no sense but I just love how complex lapis is and how she has done some questionable things in her past that still haunts her each day but bit by bit with the help of Steven and especially peridot she works towards forgiveness for not only herself but others, and despite her pain she tries and although she may never fully heal she makes meep morps, watches camp pining hearts, helps the crystal gems and raises pumpkin with peridot; finding a home away from homeworld and I think that's beautiful. - evena

I love Lapis so much. I mean, at first I thought she was a bit of a damsel in distress or kind of a Mary sue, with a tragic backstory and always being caught in those awful situations, and it felt like she was a 'woe as me' character. But after rewatching the series with the newer episodes? I realize that she's such a strong character, and while I thought that made her more of a Mary Sue, she's got a ton of flaws. She was an in an incredibly toxic relationship where she abused someone (and vice versa Jasper and Lapis both were the abusers in the relationship,) she's very judge mental and holds grudges without barely knowing anything about the being, and is pretty selfish. But who can blame her after 5,000 years in a mirror and months in an abusive relationship underneath the ocean? I think Lapis is pretty relatable, and that's why she's great in my opinion. Plus she's having more fun and is sort of recovering thank god

First she was a desperate cracked gem who wanted to go home them she was a forced member of the homeworld Earth mission then she was trapped in the toxic relationship of malachite after that she was a refugee struggling to adjust to life on Earth she then finally settled down in the barn only to be uprooted from her newfound peace by news of a possible diamond attack and then came back in a blaze of awesomeness to help in the battle of reunited she is so amazing and I'm delighted that she finally proclaimed herself a crystal gem!

Mirror gem/Ocean gem was one of the first episodes that stood out very much compared to the other S1 episodes. Lapis..well.. is one of the deepest/saddest characters, but if also one of the most snarky and well-devloped characters.

Lapis suffers a lot in the show, which giving her PTSD of earth, ocean, war etc., yet she still overcome her fear and stand up against whoever try to destroy her life. Combine with her amazing character design and voice acting, she is my best character in Steven Universe.

In my opinion, Lapis had the biggest impact on the show. Mirror gem was the one episode to show that Steven universe was not all fun and games. I wouldn't be a fan if it wasn't for Lapis's introduction. And this show wouldn't be what it is today if Lapis wasn't introduced.
