A Hare Krishna is a Hindu religious figure. I am pretty sure that it isn't supposed to mean anything in the context of the song given that none of the lyrics of this song really make sense. - Powell

Lol. You're right, the lyrics make no discernible sense, and they never have to me, so I went to read up on the song. While I found some reliable insight into the lyrics, and while the song is credited to Lennon/McCartney, it was solely a John Lennon effort from a pre-production/creativity standpoint. The songs intent was to confound listeners who had apparently began to attach some scholarly significance to Beatles lyrics, and was inspired by 2 acid trips taken by Lennon, and a 1871 poem by Lewis Carroll titled "The Walrus and the Carpenter". The BBC banned the song shortly after its release, but as far as I can tell, it had already aired on the BBC as the whole album "Magical Mystery Tour" was a soundtrack for a television movie. Thanks for inspiring me to research this song, it gives me some insight into 40+ years of mild frustration trying to decipher its meaning. There are clues on the album that would later lead many to believe Paul McCartney was dead, but try as I might, I cannot make that connection here, although a later Beatles song "Glass Onion" refers to Paul as the Walrus. This song has no meaning, as was its intent. by the way, Hare Krishna would later figure prominently into George Harrison's solo effort "My Sweet Lord". - CyberRat
