How is this not #1? The song starts in a 5/4 time signature until the standard 4/4 comes in with the drums and the 4/5 keeps playing through the song! Simply an amazing effect most people won't ever notice. There's also something incredibly haunting and almost spiritual about the lyrics, especially- "one day I am gonna grow wings, a chemical reaction, hysterical and useless..." "you'll know, you'll know where you are when, you'll know where you when, floor collapse and floating, bouncing back in...". Then of course these lines meet up and are sung together (as in - at the same time! ) into a crescendo of Thom belting out - "you'll know where you are! " It's so dammed beautiful sounding it brings tears to my eyes. Best way to describe the feeling I get when listening to this song is that something is tugging on my soul. I love most all radiohead's music, but this song does me in like no other.

Cathartic song which evokes "the emptinest of feeling" which comes after all the feelings and emotions - after a loss of close person, the lost of job, the end of a relationship, the school bullying, every tragedy or life failure. Instruments playing in different time signatures, beautiful Thom Yorke's voice, moving lyrics. "Don't get sentimental, it alalways ends up drivel", "one day I am gonna grow wings, a chemical reaction, hysterical and useless" - it moves every time. This song breaks and heals, gives hope and crushes it, inspires and learns the oble art of reconciliation with fate. A masterpiece!

Utterly brilliant, brilliant, brilliant song. The way it builds - like a wonderful, beautiful, tragic, yet triumphant saga; the way it climaxes - with Thom singing against himself in a heart-breakingly beautiful, mournful wail. Plus the underpinning of the mesmeric, hypnotic guitar riff - slightly hesitant, slightly confused, slightly humble, slightly... I don't know... representative of the humdrum of life.

This song has grown on me infinitely in the last month, to where I can't decide if this or fake plastic trees is my favorite Radiohead song (followed closely by street spirit and paranoid android). I used to think this song was almost filler compared to the more, well, outspoken songs around it, but I now consider it the best song on the album.

Absolutely stunning, Let Down is heart wrenching and uplifting simultaneously. Such a masterpiece that words can't begin to do it justice. This is hands down my favourite Radiohead song. I'd confidently say it's the best piece of music to come from the 90's. Just has to be #1.

WHAT!? This song is TENTH!? How on earth is this not number one!? The lyrics and the music and the ways it's sang- this song is just amazing; probably my all time favourite song EVER, never mind just Radiohead! High and Dry, Street Spirit and Bodysnatchers are pretty good too though
