Its not like I'm saying America is perfect or sits on the pedestal of highest success in all categories. It has and had its faults. The thing is we don't lead in any category other than defense spending, percent of incarcerated citizens and people who believe in christ. Other countries have followed our model and have the liberties and rights we proclaimed in our founding. We are not the freest nation on earth anymore. We like to regulate everything. So people can reasonably say we aren't the best. BUT. We are the States. Their is pride in being the 900 pound gorilla because we do have a FORCE of a military. Since our inception til the 70's we did nothing but advance in all fields. We are a very young nation, but we represent the democratic republic world. Other nations on here have failed and america isn't failing yet. We just aren't the undisputed best in the world right now. I vote america for the future could be bright with the right footing and the past is great.

I believe a good indicator of how important america is as a civilization is to consider what the world would be like without it. First off it's a major possibility either Germany or Russia would rule most of the world with an iron fist after either side won work war 2. It was only because of Americas strength these nations were kept at bay. Secondly America may be smaller than past empires but that's by choice. America could easily conquer most of the world entirely on it's own apart from possibly Russia or China. Thirdly america has ushered in the digital age through smartphones, the internet, and entertainment the rest of the world still can't compete with. The invention and distribution of these things have influenced the world as deeply or more than the invention of anything else since the discovery of fire. The United States is defining modern western culture, and influencing the world. T.V.-shows, the movie industry, the english language, video games, computers, smartphones, etc. Almost everything that defines pop culture was originally American. Also ideals like freedom, democracy and liberalism, were spread thanks in part to the United States. The ones who say America has no culture are clearly not very bright. And I'm saying that as someone from Denmark, a country with thousands of years of history. I can tell that pop culture in Denmark is influenced A LOT by American culture. We go to starbucks, have a cheeseburger at mcdonalds, post pictures on instagram, and watch game of thrones. Just like you. Also, the US economy is literally a quarter of the world. That's insane. And in the 50s it was half. The US is the modern era's Roman Empire. And it doesn't just influence some of the world, but all of it.

Strongest military in the world, inception of freedom and government by the people for the people. Sure the United States didn't come up with the ideas of democracy or republic, but they certainly perfected it. The U.S. Constitution is the oldest one in use today, because the founding fathers had the foresight to make it withstand the test of time. They defeated the "mighty" British Empire, were the deciding factor in World War I and II, and have been every immigrant's dream destination for the last 150 years. As far as human rights go, the United States is always striving for the next advancement opportunities and is known as the melting pot by bringing the best of what the rest of the world has to offer and combining it in one place. American dominance at the Olympics is a good indicator of this. Human rights in America are there but not always given (usually because racists). The racism problem in the U.S is worse then any country in Europe for sure and not like your brother who always behaves himself, Canada.America is greedy and has always exploited the stupidity of a lot of the people there. They became rich and powerful, yes. You must look at the fact that they became so strong by luck and WW1/2 (which they made tons of money out, they didn't win the war for us and if they were to not join we would have won. In WW1 they joined once the war was decided and in WW2 they joined but just Island hopped Japan which were not a big threat to us and also too occupied with hopping islands in Japan. You can't call nuking hundreds of thousands of citizens being strong and mighty when in reality you nuked innocent citizens for the most part).You didn't perfect the democracy/republic... Greece was a democracy and England/Netherlands were republics before you even were created. Americans say that they are the founder of democracy and republics as well as perfector of it because they are trapped in the false reality that America is the leader in freedom (wrong), rights (wrong) and technology (also wrong since the only reason you discover a few things every now and then is because you spend the money and we don't want to. I mean come on, 1/2 of the population is as confused as a native when you ask them where Russia is on the map. America also have a reputation for stealing inventions and ideas, a lot of claiming of discoveries were just stolen by British inventors back when we were an Empire.Europe was destroyed by WW1/2, if these wars didn't happen then America would be much weaker then what it is today and this is an undeniable fact. America has had a lot of luck and good leaders in the past but in modern day they are laughed at by China, who is projected to soon overtake America. The USA does have some incredible discoveries of their own and also have done many noteworthy things in the past but for the most part they can't beat Korea, Vietnam or Iraq (you may claim you won these but the rest of the world doesn't agree). America must adapt to the world or face destruction, they aren't open to debate or discussion on their past and a lot of Americans struggle to find where countries on the map are such as Russia, France and the United Kingdom. - xXStevieXX

@xXStevieXX first of all it's a very ignorant stance to say that the United States is full of racists, or that they have any real power in any major institution. Sure there are racists, but only 0.1% of the population maximum (unfortunately they happen to be a very loud minority). And when you say human rights are not always given, that is also so demonstrably false. We are the only country in the world that recognize the right to free speech and the right to bear arms for defense. Also, you seem to imply that the European countries are a lot better off. Brexit in Britain, widespread riots in France, the Catalonian fight for independence in Spain, and the energy crisis in Germany. Meanwhile, America's biggest political problems is "the other party is evil and bad" which is inevitable and annoying at worst. Also, for Canada, it's easy to be the nice guy on the world stage when you don't have to pay for your own national defense and don't involve in a major battle or war because their neighbors to the South won't let anything happen to them.As for exploiting the stupidity of the people, America is the country that has done more to further science and technology than any other civilization in the history of the world. Right off the top of my head: we created the internet, the light bulb, sent the first man to the moon, developed the nuclear bomb (which was a massive step for science, and was dropped on a country which had killed our innocent civilians), and was the birthplace of the modern technological boom, with Silicon Valley companies dominating technology. Not to mention that American universities are by far the best in the world. Even the most brilliant foreign minds of Europe studied or taught in them (Turing, Einstein, ect).Also, we didn't become powerful by luck in the world wars. We played our cards right by pumping up manufacturing, and then swooped in to break the stalemate both times. Historians agree that the Spring Offensive of WWI would have overwhelmed the Allies if not for US intervention. In WWII, American steel was just as important as British intelligence and Russian blood.Also, we definitely have perfected the republic, because Greece was a democracy, yeah, but fell over 2,000 years ago. In that 2,000 years, absolutism had gained hold of countries like Britain, France, Russia, ect. I am very aware of the Glorious Revolution, but at the end of the day, even in 1776, the royal family was still and still is present. And in 1776, the monarch had the power to increase taxes of its subjects without the representation of its subjects, and forced them to quarter and house soldiers, the same soldiers that openly fired at the American public. American Revolution was fought over the fact that Americans had no say in their government, and was the first country since Rome 1,000 years prior to accomplish this successfully, whereas France swapped a monarch with a Napoleon. America itself is the size of Europe, and 11 of our states are larger than Britain.
