I've never lived in any of these top cities, but I have visited all.Unlike in New York or London, or even in my home city of Christchurch New Zealand; I felt completely safe walking around the streets at night in Tokyo. In fact Tokyo has been ranked the safest city in the world with incredibly low crime rates.Everybody is so friendly, even though Tokyo was the place where I was most obviously a foreigner (and barely spoke the language).The transport system is impeccable (rush hour is much the same) with the trains running nearly exactly to schedule all the time.Historically it beats London (New York doesn't even hold a candle to either) with a much richer historical background in the surrounding areas and longer history, although Kyoto is again better for this.During my month stay in Tokyo, I only once saw rubbish in public, and it was in a little used stairway at the back of a small station. In my opinion, Tokyo is the greatest city in the world that keeps one yearning to return time and again. I mean, come on 80,000 restaurants alone with 3 times the Michelin Star ratings than Paris! Safety is paramount, trains ALWAYS run on time, super clean, people are so kind and so many things to do and see. Why wouldn't you want to visit the most populous city on the planet?

Im totally in love with this city! How is it even possible that amongst wars, misery and poverty all around the world, there can exist such a vibrant and cosmopolitan hub? Amazingly clean in every corner, shiny and incredibly cozy for 40 million people population, Tokyo never fails to surprise and leaves exciting memories for life. Superb trains and subway, very safe backstreets, and tens of dozens of sights to see, although they are SO many, that even if you live there your entire life, you still wont be able to discover it all. Sophisticated restaurants are offering cuisine from everywhere on Earth, whereas japanese udon and ramen hole-in-the-wall bar-like restaurants can be found anywhere. Tokyo is particularly unique at night, when its the perfect time to climb one of the countless observation decks spread all across the city and take priceless photos of the Coruscant-like skyline. Tokyo is Bustling... It's awesome. It is a blend of Japanese and western culture. Home to the Tokyo Skytree, Imperial Palace, Tokyo Disney World, Shibuua Crossing and A Whole New World... The list goes on and on and on... Tokyo is the most populous city in the world with over 36 million inhabitants. Tokyo IS HEAVEN!
