NC used to be a place for great education, jobs, and cultural inclusion (in some places). But now with our current government, we have allowed discrimination to become law. We have one of the worst states for education, we have allowed Duke Energy to get away with the coal ash spill, and now we force the police to pull over citizens for driving 1 mph over the speed limit instead of tending to more important matters such as cold cases or the thousands of sexual assault kits that are sitting in evidence and have not been touched. The police turn a blind eye to racism and violence such as the Trump supporter striking a protestor unprovoked (caught on film while the police just watched and arrested the victim). State employees can not get raises and if they do it has to be approved by the board of governors (you read that correctly, apparently they don't have anything better to do ). You're absolutely right, for now. I moved from NJ/ metro NYC years ago to Fayetteville, home of the world's largest army base(Ft. Bragg). Fayetteville is the most diverse small town(200,000 people- 46% Caucasian/42% African-American/3% Asian/4% Hispanic) you will ever find. For years the rest of the state derided it as a "GI town." That kept many people away, but people who loved people moved here. The Art community is huge, including theater, live music, festivals and a really cool Downtown. Housing is affordable and the entire city is fully integrated. It has an active, LGBT community. It is also a very young community(average age 29.5- because of the 55,000 young, highly trained, mostly cool soldiers). The weather is great with Spring starting about March 15th, and the only two cold months being January and February( don't look for snow- it only happens once in a while). Right now (2106) there are idiots in the state that want to drag the state back to the racism and backwardness of the 1940-50's, but that is temporary. The highly trained and well educated centers of business(Charlotte) and the Research Triangle (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill), and the open-minded, progressive centers of Fayetteville and Asheville will turn the state back to the progressive beacon it always hasbeen in the Old South - CJMDowntown

I could not get out of that downtrodden place fast enough! Wilmington, NC is the one of theee most racist places in the USA. All of those little backwoods towns in North and South Carolina breed hate and ignorance. People foam at the mouth like rabid dogs when they see someone that doesn't fit into their realm of what they consider "pure". So much talk of blood contamination and crazy sounding conspiracy theories at the though of any thing that doesn't support the Confederacy. HORRIBLE RACIST PLACE!

This state is very racist. I'm Hispanic and I am proud of my race, I don't care what people say but I am, I've said it before every race has bad people but they also have good people. I went to the market a few days ago and this white woman kept telling all the hispanics "get the hell away from me" then and few days before that I went somewhere else and was asked to wait in the waiting room, across from me there were 2 white people, a father and his daughter. The father kept whispering to his daughter and laughing

I live in high point.. In high point racism is low.. Neighborhood cities like asheboro which has white majority. That place is kinda ok. Over all people are nice. I've been here for almost two years now. Never face any racism hatred (i guess I'm lucky? ) I'm not black nor white or Latino (lol) my community is like 0.009% of the population.So basically in cities racism is low.. In country side.. I don't know.. But I do saw lot of confederate flags hanging out side of farm houses :P

Not as bad as you think. Lived in Wilmington for 10 years, no racism because there were lots of minorities and you can't be racist with them there. I now live in south west PA and it's full of racism. If you want a place full of racism though, visit South Carolina
