No, there's a lot of ignorant rednecks here who for no reason despise anyone who's not white and if you don't agree with their beliefs you might as well be a terrorist. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, USA. We are born US Citizens in Puerto Rico since 1917. I have a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy and for work reasons I ended up in Indiana to work for a major Pharmaceutical Company. I've spent all my life finding ways to improve people's lives with reliable, cost affordable and safe medication. This time, work brought me to Southern Indiana, specifically Seymour in Jackson County. Racial composition is Seymour is around 95% white, so you can pretty much say, this is a white town. In here the level of education is very low, addiction rate high and school ratings very poor. I'm a Christian lady and spend as much time as possible helping my community and helping others. I've even considered the possibility of building a house here, but couple of incidents made me change my mind. 1) One day I was heading to the BMV and took a wrong turn. I ended up in the back part of a garage where I saw several teens fully tattooed, pierced and with shaved heads. I believe they were some kind of neo-Nazi or white supremacists. They looked at me in an intimidating way. I just left as soon as I could. 2) I was looking for a local church and visited Calvary Baptist Church. When I asked what time was the service, I was immediately directed to the Spanish Service and hours even though I was clear I wanted to attend the service in English. 3) I visited Applebee's in Tipton Street on a Friday night after a long day at work. The place was full and since I didn't want to wait, I sat at the bar. Service was very slow for me and I had to keep calling the waiter over and over for service. A Reverend from the local Presbyterian Church started chatting with me, asking where I was from, etc. When I mentioned that because of work reasons I was considering to move to Seymour, he said, "oh, you don't want to do that". I asked why, and he was blunt: because of racial discrimination. He even mentioned he had to deal with many racists in his own church. Honestly, I don't know what God they serve, but it is not definitively mine. They should revisit all of Paul letters and specially the letter from James!. Well, I guess they will miss the opportunity to mingle with humble, educated people, who come here with very good and noble intentions. PLUS, they just affected my white builder and his family as I will be taking my business ($$$) somewhere else... Probably to Columbus, IN. Indiana is just horrible. My daughter (African American/Native American) was targeted over and over again in one of the schools here. She was called racist names, spit on, told her skin looked dirty, and the worst, she was chased down the road by a truckload bigots who meant her harm. A witness saw these idiots stop the truck, after circling my child calling her a N word wh*re. The witness said the look of terror in her eyes would give her nightmares. They damaged her for life, making her think she is inferior to everyone.
