Mexico has more than enough natural resources to make it to the top; they supply the US with agriculture and labor, two things that the US can not do without. Their industrialization is growing and fast. All they need to do is build their military up and get involved in the world stage. Mexico has a tendency to shy away from the world disputes, and they also don't put enough military pressure on the drug lords.
