I had the mispleasure of getting sent to this miserable state because of my job and having lived and travelled all up and down the East Coast, including the Deep South, I can tell you that North Dakota belongs WAY higher on this list. That state is full of clannish, backwards, uncultured people who have a distinctive disdain for anybody that isn't from there, especially if you're of a darker hue. They are arrogant beyond belief and constantly look down their noses at folks from other states. Trash state full of trash people.

I live here now, in Sept 2020. I came here, getting away from domestic violence. First, I want to give props to the kind people I HAVE met. Beyond them, the majority are not kind. If you bring up the garbage you have dealt with, most locals we ill blame it on "oilfield trash". Um, nooo, most of what I have dealt with is local trash. Even if you try to go to church, they will ostracize you if they don't like you. Once, I saw a homeless guy come in right after service started, deacons ran him off. I said, what did you do that for? Oh, he was a security threat. Seriously? Ya'll wouldn't even recognize MY Lord if He came. You just ran Him off. Hate it here with a passion. I'm trying to move. There was a halfway house for recovering addicts and alcoholics. Someone got it closed. "Not in my neighborhood" kind of thing. Well guess what. A group got it reopened in another neighborhood. Pharisees that tried to shut it down. We used to have a place for people to sleep at night during the Winter, so people wouldn't die from the cold? You guessed it. It got shut down. This state is like 150 years behind the times. Women dress like they just came from the field. Hardly any dresses, and almost no ladies wear makeup. So if you do, they treat you like a whote, and stare at you. I constantly get asked, Where are you from? After 7 years, I'm over it. So when one guy said that, I answered, Uh, my mothers womb?!? The whole store cracked up, lol...reeeeeally uneducated here. I get asked "What nationality are you"? When what they are REALLY trying to ask is, what ethnic heritage I am. Because I'm not dark, just not white enough apparently. I'm olive skinned. And educated. Beyond high school, can you imagine - Incredible_Sunshine

I lived in North Dakota my entire life up until a year ago. I am half Native American and half Norwegian. You really can not tell that I am Native American though because I have light skin. So people would say racist things about Native Americans and not realize that I am one. Some people who knew I was Native American would call me Prairie N*****. They are racist against anyone who is not White. Just outside of an Indian reservation by Minot, and somebody spray-painted on a dumpster "F*** Indians, We give you enough food and money, your welcome. " on it. If you are not White they will not make you feel welcome.

North Dakota is extremely racist and don't even care about the rights of an individual. They will stop someone just because they appear hispanic and harass them. If they don't speak english they automatically call immigration and detain them. They coerce them to sign a paper saying they will leave the country. They have the chance to fight their case with a judge but when they sign that paper, they don't get to oppose being deported. They treat them badly when detained and don't always provide sufficient food, blankets, etc. This type of treatment should be stopped if a person is not breaking any kind of law.

I lived in Fargo for eight years. I'm from a military, Southern family. My family moved to and because my stepmother is from there. They are extremely racist against natives, Hispanics, and blacks. My father and I are Mexican American. I was called a dirty spick by my ex, endured years of racist jokes told openly, and it was very difficult to find a job because no one will even call back a person with a Spanish name. My little brother was called a stupid Mexican at elementary school. I've even been stopped and illegally searched for being in a high crime neighborhood. Anyone from here knows there is almost no violent crime or run down areas anywhere within ten miles of the city. My father hated and so much that he moved to OK.

I've Lived in North Dakota my entire life, and can first hand tell you everyone here will argue you until they are blue in the face that they are not racist, but trust me when I tell you... they are all racist or closet racists. I am half native half white, and I can vouch that I have heard the most random people spout out racist comments toward mostly natives, but really all races that aren't white. Everyone in north Dakota has a pack mentality, and will follow the leader of opinions especially when it comes to politics. 9 out of 10 people are Republican even if they don't understand what that means.

The whole state is racist. We have a lot of kkk and white supremacists here. Grand Forks has been in the news (UND) specifically for sporting shirts with native Americans drinking out of a beer bong thing, with the words "Siouxper Drunk" on it in retaliation of the Natives trying to change the name "The Fighting Sioux. " Nothing was ever done about this at the University except to say they were just being kids, yet they were all old enough to know better. Bismarck schools will tell the Natives they are not civilized and will never make it in school or career. These schools will outright say stuff to your face and get away with it because "who is going to side with us" right? Natives are targeted just by being seen driving, walking, riding bike. Law enforcement will see natives living somewhere, claim to smell marijuana and will raid your house on the claim of a smell. Well I no is bad but there crime comes from them and being so small.. I was with a group of Mexicans.. Not knowing they were being watched for drugs.. Got pulled over.. Ran my name came up clean they let me go.. And I'm black the cop didn't say anything nasty but the Mexicans were your racist.. He was just like yeah if you were white id still be on your ass color doesn't mean anything in the laws eyes...

Was here for a layover when an elderly couple sat behind me. They mocked an Asian man who was speaking on his phone. The woman said " I hope we don't have to sit with him mumbling his gibberish". She later said out loud that she wished Obama would get rid of his "savage aliens". Now, I'm Hispanic, and obviously not white so I'm assuming she directed this comment toward me. She later got up for a bit and when she eventually sat back down, she elbowed me in the back of the head very hard. An other white woman sitting next to me was about to address the situation but I signaled for her to not. I was in too much of a shock to react. Plus, I was only 21 and completely alone. I didn't know how to react. While on the plane, I began to cry quietly to myself. Not a very good experience but I am thankful the other woman was willing to defend me.
