Aus SAS operations from Vietnam to Afghanistan speak for themselves. This force is highly regarded by British and US special forces commanders and regularly trains side by side. The Aus SAS selection is considered by many to be the toughest on the planet as it is basically the same as the British selection but in more rugged, hostile and very hot conditions. In the absence of a Marine Corps, the Aus SAS also train like the British SBS or US navy Seals. It staggers belief that they are not listed here in the top 3 to 5, as they have been by Military experts in other more investigated or official almanacs. Perhaps because most of the opinions come from countries with much larger populations and patriotic bias.

The training for the Sas is crazy hard here in Australia. In harsh conditions and training with heavy loads in groups, it really tests the mental and physical strength. Although even after doing the selection course, there is still 70% chance you will get kicked out of the sas even after the selection course, their is still many more challenges and tasks to do after the selection course. It is crazy tough and that has really paid off. The completions in the last 30 years speak for themselves. Vietnam, Somalia, East Timor, Afghanistan, Iraq and now in Syria/ Iraq.

The Australian SAS are trained to an exceptionally high level both physically and mentally. They are the most head strong team in the world and the percentage of gaining access into the regiment is under 8%. They are just as good if not better than the british SAS and in my opinion better than the Navy Seals. They are trained to be both experts in water and air services and not just specialise in one certain aspect but to be just as good as a specifically trained team in the water and the air.

Most lists you read about the best special forces in the world have units that have not been to battle or seen operational duty in decades.These lists are mostly biased towards the writer or video creators own countries forces.The SASR(Special Air Service Regiment) has constantly been in action since 2001. Most of their operations have been top secret and no-one but the top military leaders know what the SASR have been doing.This is why the SASR is rarely listed because no-one hears about them.You decide which is better, those forces that have been in action and made a difference or those who haven't. The SASR should always be in the top 10 best units.

An obviously underestimated force which is only lower in the list due to patriotic biased users that allow a lower population and user network to pail in comparison to the larger countries that will go all the way to rep boost their special forces.Australia's placement in Afghanistan and Iraq has shown the particular might and power that no other military could compare. They fight for their country but show that they will fight for causes that put their life at risk for others and not their own Patriotic glory.A Smaller and concentrated military compared to larger countries allowed for greater development and training to be given to a force that is relatively used as a dispensable military by the English Army which only makes each of them tougher than the last

India in number 2? You've got to be kidding me. They will always be a developing country and the people commenting on how good the MARCOS are can barely speak English, so stop trying. Have you guys even read the statistics and odds that the Aussies faced in Vietnam? Regular men taken off the streets through conscription and after 6 months training were the toughest blokes in the worlds army corp. Do some research on Vietnams D Company platoon, and then make your decision. Good on the NAVY Seals for keeping the number one spot, but the Aussies should definitely be 2-5. Cheers Kents.
