I was considering changing from my maiden name of Martinez after my divorce to a totally different one. However, after reading the comments and looking in to the meaning of the sur name Martinez, I have discovered that if it ain't broke don't fix it. I found out that, Martinez is the patronymic surname of "Son of Martin" and Martin comes from the Latin name "Martinus," which is a derivative of "Mars," who is the Roman god of fertility and war. So yeah, it is definitely a badass name! I'm keeping it, back to the basics Mercedes Jasmine Martinez

This a wonderful name, I truly love it! It's my last name. But the only down-side to this name is, when ever you go to a place like the doctors or dentists, they ask you if you speak Spanish. And I always say, no mam or sir. Bit what what I really wanna say is, do I look like I speak Spanish?! I think this because I have fair skin. I'm German-Peruvian.
